Haley Qualman is a therapist in Houston, TX specializing in DBT, EMDR, and IFS-informed work for adults healing from trauma, addiction, and family-of-origin issues.

Hi, I’m Haley

I’m a Houston-based Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapy for adults across Texas. I specialize in helping people navigate trauma, substance use and recovery, mood disorders, and relationship patterns.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to you.

Drawing on a strategic blend of DBT, EMDR, and IFS-informed modalities, I create custom treatment plans designed to reduce suffering, process trauma, improve emotional regulation, and help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that feel lost or overwhelmed.

At the end of the day, my work is about helping you understand your patterns, reconnect with your body, and build trust in yourself.

I hold a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Houston. I have completed intensive and foundational training in evidence-based modalities including EMDR, RO-DBT, and DBT.

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy a range of hobbies that keep me grounded. This includes exploring Houston’s many trails with my two dogs, Lucy and Buñuelo; eating my way through the local restaurant scene with my wife; and dabbling in various crafts.

Specialties

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Processing)

EMDR is an therapy that helps the brain process and heal from painful or overwhelming experiences. Using gentle bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping), we work through stuck memories so they become less intense and no longer feel like they’re happening in the present. Many people find relief from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life events.

DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)

DBT focuses on building practical skills to help you manage intense emotions, cope with stress, and improve relationships. Skills focus on mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and effective communication.

IFS (Internal Family Systems) Informed Therapy

IFS views your inner world as made up of different “parts,” each trying to protect you in its own way. We work compassionately with these parts to heal old wounds and reduce inner conflict. This approach helps you build self-trust, calm shame, and feel more at peace within yourself.

Addiction & Recovery Support

This work supports people questioning their relationship with alcohol and/or substances or working toward recovery. We explore the emotional roots of use, build healthier coping skills, and strengthen motivation for change. I provide a supportive space to explore recovery pathways aligned with each person’s goals, which may include moderation, reduction, or abstinence.

Family of Origin Work

Family of origin work looks at how your early relationships shaped your beliefs, coping patterns, and sense of self. Together, we explore how the past is showing up in the present and gently create new, healthier ways of relating.
